Sam Roth

Head Coach-NOCOPVA

Hi! I am Sam Roth, and I am a coach over at Nocopva! I began my coaching career in 2019 as Windsor High School’s Pole vault coach. I am 25 years old and I am from Windsor, CO.

Since I began my career with Windsor High School, I have coached nine 4A State qualifiers, one 3A state Qualifier, 4A state runner up, and all-state Colorado indoor/outdoor leader. I’ve had a state qualifier for 5 consecutive seasons in 4A State. At Windsor High School, I have coached both the boys (17’0) and girls (11’2) school record holders, 5 of the top 10 guys and 4 of the top 10 girls in the schools recorded history.

Some of my more specific notable achievements (and students) are in 2021 I coached the top 2 freshman boys in the state, 2022, top sophomore boy, top junior, and in 2023, the top senior. I’ve coached athletes from 0-14’9 in 12 weeks-17’0 in 1 year, and girls ~10’ within 12 weeks of training.

In the first year of NOCOPVA, I’ve coached 6 guys over 14’, 8 guys over 13’, 3 over 12’. Most have seen over a foot of improvement in this time. On the girls side, I’ve coached 4 over 9’, 2 over 10’, and one up to 11’.

I've since continued my career as a pole vault coach for Thompson School District in Loveland CO. In my first season I coached 3 state qualifiers; one of them on top 3 of 4A podium.

As a coach, my mission is to help you discover how great the pole vault event is, and give you the confidence to reinvent the way you think may be your best. At its core, I believe you should be on the right pole, on the right run, at the right time, all of the time. Learn how to be energy efficient, and get the maximum out of the pole so you may always be jumping heights higher than your hand grip.

I still pole vault myself and currently am setting at 14’8 for now. I once was Weld County champion of 2018 and Tri league champion in 2018, receiving all conference honors. I was first introduced to pole vault by my twin brother, Ben Roth, and in high school, we would both share the 3rd spot for the highest vault at Windsor for the time. I was coached by the greatest, Alan Hubert, who now currently coaches at Poudre High School, and also one of our club coaches at Noco Vault.

Most of the time, you’ll find me jumping on poles 30-40lbs over my bodyweight, and in turn can jump over maximum grip with about 2 ft of true flyaway. The longest pole I’ve ever gripped is a 14’ and the heaviest pole was over 55lbs heavier than me.

In 2023, I started as a sales representative for UST-Essx pole vaulting poles. I hold certificates as a CHSAA pole vault instructor, Usatf safesport and coaches registry, CPR/AED, NFHS in coaching pole vault, coaching track and field, and science of sprinting and mobility.
